Adefovir dipivoxil (Hepsera®) for the treatment of both hepatitis B e antigen-positive and –negative chronic hepatitis B:
- Oral dose of 10 mg daily
- Significant sustained reduction in HBV DNA levels
- Normalization of serum ALT levels
- Improvement of necroinflammatory activity and fibrosis
- No toxicity
- No resistance development
