Abstract
The Michael addn. of AcCH:CH2 to indole is performed under smooth
conditions by running the reaction in the presence of an acidic clay
catalyst (K10 Montmorillonite) and an aliph. alc. such as EtOH or
Me2CHOH. Presence of an alc. along with a polar solvent (MeNO2)
in the reaction medium considerably improves the reaction.
